Call for fair share of Slumdog profits

Submitted by Super Mario on February 23, 2009 – 10:41 pmNo Comment

tarrant2Hit British film Slumdog Millionaire has won the top prize at the Academy Awards, winning eight Oscars including best director and best picture. However the film’s success has sparked calls for a slice of the massive profits it has made worldwide to be given to Chris Tarrant, the British TV presenter who was the movie’s inspiration.

The call, made by Mr Tarrant himself, is made on the basis that if it wasn’t for him then there would never have been Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and the film would never have been made. Mr Tarrant says he too used to be a millionaire before his former wife took it all away as redress for him being  a total carrot.

The presenter dismissed suggestions that some of the film’s profits should be directed to the slums of Mumbai. He said that the kids there had sunshine nearly all the time and what more did they want.  He also said that if it came to it, he could take any one of them in a fight.
