Airdrie man shot in jury mix-up
A young Airdrie man has been shot by firing squad after a mix up at the local court allowed a 108-year old woman onto the jury. The man was found guilty of stealing a goat from a local butcher and was immediately sentenced to death by firing squad by the centenarian, who successfully argued with her fellow jurors that she survived the Blitz and that this was the only way to deal with his sort.
When the accused pleaded that jurors should be 65 or under, the sweet old duck stated that she was under 65 and now had the paperwork to prove it.
Scottish Parliament plans to extend the upper age limit for a juror to 70 is expected to lead to tougher sentencing nationwide, as well as renewed calls for more toilet facilities, ear trumpets and more Garibaldis for the jury room.
