Beckham spells it out for Galaxy fans
David Beckham insists he can handle any hostility from LA Galaxy fans when he returns to Major League Soccer. The midfield star has infuriated his team’s supporters by declaring that he will never again invite any of them around to play Scrabble.
Beckham became a cult hero among the Galaxy faithful by making Tuesday night’s “open house” for anyone who wanted to pop around and play his favourite board game. At its peak, five thousand fans queued patiently round the Beckham mansion waiting their turn to play.
However the England international says that he cannot allow the practice to go on after a dispute over spelling ended in a vase being broken. Beckham was furious when one of his competitors wouldn’t accept the English spelling of “pikchur” and instead insisted on the American form “picture”.
The vase wasn’t broken during a scuffle but when Beckham opened the door to leave, it allowed in the sound of Victoria’s singing.
